Medium:

Acrylic & Silk

Artist Statement:

Art is a great story teller. Some stories are obvious, some encourage the observer to ask questions to solve the mystery the artist is trying to tell, and others leave the story up to the viewer to write. My art tells stories too. The art displayed in this show are all inspired by places I’ve been to here in Alaska. I am fascinated by color and the way the sun and shadows play with it. I can’t go for a walk and look at a leaf without thinking what colors I would use to make up that exact shade, or how I would capture the way the light reflects off of the water. Nature is such a great source of inspiration….always changing, often challenging, but very rewarding. Since coming to Alaska in 2000, I have been captivated by the diversity here. My paintings are snapshots of experiences I’ve had here with family and friends, peaceful times of reflections or exciting adventures. I hope as you view each piece, it will remind you of great adventures as well….or inspire your next one.
